Pioneer HTP-SB300 Soundbar Theater System

Despite an overall drop in sales speaker in 2009, the Soundbar market is absolutely booming and seems ready to explode in 2010. It seems that people really took to the idea of strengthening the quality of its TV without committing to a home theater system of course, soundbar does not provide the same immersive experience, but without the clutter-DECOR friendly benefits are often worth the sacrifice.

Pioneer HTP-SB300 Soundbar

In the box you get two components Soundbar, which is designed for televisions partnership between 32 and 37in, and perhaps the smallest home theater subwoofer we’ve ever encountered. The front and center in the heart of the Soundbar make the system 3.1, most of Pioneer Technology Front Stage Surround Advance is the place to make the more enveloping soundstage. Power output is quoted as all 250W (50W fronts and center, 100W to the sub), which is a respectable amount of muscle for such compact components.

As expected, the Soundbar can be wall mounted using the brackets in the box, but it can also be placed on an AV rack – there are rubber pads on the bottom to prevent slipping. The subwoofer can be placed horizontally or vertically, and because it is wireless, you do not ask where you install it in the context of the Soundbar. It is not surprising then to find Pioneer helping himself to a slice of the action with the Soundbar HTP-SB300. Unlike the Samsung HT-BD8200 and LG HLB54S, it comes without a floppy integrated Blu-ray, but still caters for owners of separate Blu-ray decks with HDMI and Dolby TrueHD.

Looks-wise the unit is the same extraction, with a profile with elegant curves and some signs of class mirror at each end. In the middle is a billboard that shows the selected input or when the volume is adjusted, all in a light illuminated. There is also a row of buttons to control volume, input and audio mode, but the included remote control covers the rest.

On the back, Pioneer goes for quality over quantity, offering a choice of optical and coaxial digital audio inputs and two HDMI inputs and one output. The interior is an HDMI repeater, which means you can connect other sources and transmit signals across the device (including 1080/24p), which is handy if you have only one input on your TV. Not a bad choice, but it is not surprising to find analog stereo inputs or a USB port – there was a time when Pioneer would put one of them on anything. [via trustedreviews]
